White Noise 3.0 Released

White Noise 3.0 for BlackBerry has been released!

Settings are now remembered including volume, timer, and selected sound. Redesigned sound engine to improve performance. Speaker button now toggles between headset/handset and speaker. Added event logging, improved error messages, added ability to launch to our website, and fixed an issue with playing sound for longer than 4 hours.

While App World correctly gives me the status of "Upgrade Available", and sent me a notification informing me of the update, when I try to update the application I get a message (just after the status changes to 'downloading') that reads:

"White Noise is not available for download from App World."

I am using a BB Curve 8900 on the T-Mobile network. I assume this error has something to do with the App World submission not being set up correctly on RIM's servers. However, I have no reliable way to contact RIM to let them know so I am hoping you can help track down this issue with them so that I can download the upgrade.

Thanks in advance. I'll be traveling this week and therefore relying on the White Noise app for a good nights' sleep, so this upgrade would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply, but how would I go about posing this issue to the BlackBerry/App World folks? Do you have a link to their forum where your users have had success in the past?

Sadly, this page does not provide a contact email or phone # to contact someone. I tried the "Ask Question" and got nowhere.

Maybe you should contact BB App World and either get the fix or at least a contact point.

I am not getting any help from you or blackberry on this. I can't upgrade from whitenoise 2.0 to 3.0 on Appworld. I have noticed several others who are having the same problem. Do we have to purchase 3.0, is that your game?

I am very disappointed in your lack of support.

I figured out how to get the 3.0 version to download. I kep getting the "white noise is not available for download from App World" error message. I finally tried logging into Paypal before trying to download the upgrade. Worked like a charm.
From the My World screen, you press the blackberry button and then select Log In. Log into your Paypal account and the voila!
Do I get any credits for free apps for figuring this out??? :)

Todd, please file this away for future reference. Not your problem, I realize, but it is nice to get prompt support if something similar happens in the future with other upgrades.

BB AppWorld is giving me grief these days. It decided not to recognize my PayPal account any more, giving me a 'payment method error' 11000. It also refuses to recognize either of the two credit cards (valid!) that I tried. Is there anywhere else I can get WhiteNoise and the Storms pack for the BB?

Not currently... sorry about the app world frustrations. I have to agree they were pretty bad in the beginning but thought they were getting better. guess not?

I currently have a paid version of white noise.
I upgraded my Torch (os6) to a Torch 2 (os7)
White Noise doesn't seem to be compatible with os 7.
Will you be releasing an os7 compatible version? If so....when?

BlackBerry seems to always break things when they release major releases. Please contact them about the specific issue that you have as White Noise utilizes their standard audio library. Hopefully if enough people complain they will release a firmware upgrade to fix the issue.
