Can't Remove Alarm Icon On Right Side of the TaskBar

I downloaded the app last nite...and set an alarm to go off this morning. An alarm icon appeared in the bar across the top of my phone (on the right side where battery status, network signal, etc are located; not the left side where ongoing locations are).

The alarm went off and I dismissed. However, the icon (now with a little red circle with a diagonal line through it) won't go away. Because its located on the right side of the bar, there's no way for me to access it. I've tried rebooting my phone twice AND deleting the app but I can't get rid of the icon. What is going on?

I don't understand why this icon persists and why there is no way to get rid of it. I want it off my phone but can't figure out how to do it. I even tried reinstalling the app, setting the alarm again, and then dismissing it when it went off. Nothing. The icon is still there. I don't like the fact that even when the app is uninstalled the icon persists.

Can someone please tell me how to get rid of this icon? I've uninstalled the app...I don't like the idea of an application affecting my phone even after that application has been removed.

Just tested on my Nexus One and do not see any icon at all when an alarm is set. What type of phone and version are you running?
