Postby toddm » Tue Sep 23, 2008 1:12 am

What's new in v1.1?

- Over 20 high quality sounds! Including Air, Amazon, Beach, Brown Noise, Car Rain, Cars, Chimes, City, Clock, Crickets, Fan, Fireplace, Hair Dryer, Heavy Rain, Light Rain, Pink Noise, Rain Storm, Sprinkler, Thunder, Washer, Water, White Noise

- Sound catalog added for selecting additional sounds. Click details button on the bottom right of main screen to access.

- Quick access to favorite sounds. Main screen displays the top 8 listed in the sound catalog. Use the move up and move down buttons to rearrange.

- Timer can be shutoff and now displays seconds.

- All settings saved on exit (sound order, volume, and timer)

Thanks to everyone who participated in the free trial and provided us with some excellent feedback. In just two weeks, White Noise has had over 500,000 downloads! We spent a lot of time on version 1.1 improving our existing sounds and creating new ones that you requested. We would love to hear from you here at our TMSOFT website forums. Thanks again for all your support and feedback!

There's even more to come! Stay tuned!

Good job

Postby Alec Smith » Tue Sep 23, 2008 1:57 am

I am so excited Version 1.1 just came out not too long ago!
I'm glad to see the beautiful U.I. hasn't been changed!
I thought the ability to download new tracks from the app. would be in this upgrade though.

The sounds are very nice, and I'm glad to see a bigger catalog of noises!
Especially the rain. But the light rain would have been more relaxing without the birds.

I'm sure some people are gonna complain about the limit of only being able to view 8 sounds without having to view the catalog. But I'm not sure how you would go about changing this without taking away from the simplicity of the main screen.

I've been playing around with this new version, and noticed that if I put my volume barely on 0 there will still be sound. If I slide it down more, then the volume is completely off. Just wanted to see if that could be tweeked a bit to be more accurate.

Also, because the arrow (the one that leads to the catalog) on the main page is blue, then so should the "back" button on the catalog page.

I hope this feedback is helpful!

Great application but...

I just got the notice on my iPhone to update the application. When I opened the update page on my iPhone it showed version 1.1 with the word "FREE" next to it. Assuming the update was free like the word expressed I tried to update but got the message: "THIS APPLICATION IS OVER 10MB You must connect to a WiFi network or use iTunes on your computer to download this application."

So, the problem is I AM connected to WiFi and I AM also connected to iTunes. It's not updating. I'm assuming now we have to pay for the update? I think users who tried the program should get the free updates. After all it was our feedback that helped you improve the product.

Just a thought. I still love the application.

*****FOLLOW UP*****

Ok, I'm not sure what happened but when I disconnected from iTunes and pressed "free" button once more on my iPhone it did start to update but then froze. I hooked up to iTunes again and the download completed. I'm assuming the update was free??

Thanks again for a great product.

Updates should always be free. I don't know why you are having or at least had issues but it's really out of my hands once I submit a new version to Apple. I can only guess that demand for the upgraded version was so high that it caused some download issues. I also had a couple strange issues during the update process, it locked on me once and had to reboot and then reinstall. I have heard larger application do have more issues during installation than smaller ones but the 2.1 update was suppose to help that.

I'm sorry you had issues and hopefully once demand backs off a little things will be back to normal. If you did get charged I would contact Apple as I'm sure they would give you a refund if you already had version 1.0 installed. Glad you like the application. Cheers, Todd

Thanks for your feedback. I'm sorry the download feature did not make it into this release. It wasn't ready for primetime and is still being worked on as we speak. So the thinking was to get an update out sooner to get the majority of requests in as opposed to waiting a few more weeks.

In regards to the volume it can be controlled down to fractions of the number displayed. I decided to round it off for display to make it cleaner looking. Maybe it should be displayed?

Don't forget to update your iTunes review and I promise more good things to come. Keep the ideas flowing!

Cheers,
Todd

For those who like to sleep with some white noise, this is a great app. I have a device in my bedroom with a selection of 5 or 6 sound loops, but I immediately pick up on the repeating pattern of each track and I don't like that.

I'm sure the sounds on this app also loop, but the patterns are much less apparent to me, making the "noise" much more natural sounding.

Thanks for all the nice additions in version 1.1 and keep up the good work!

Thanks! Really great to hear you enjoy the sounds and don't hear the loops. Spent a lot of time to make sure you couldn't tell. There's more coming and thanks again! Cheers, Todd

rain from version 1.0

Postby jellybrown » Fri Sep 26, 2008 11:03 pm

I like the new version but I think my favorite sound is gone: it was called "Rain." Now there are several different options with "rain" in the title, but that exact sound seems to be gone.

Luckily my husband did not upgrade yet and I asked him not to so we can still use that sound to lull us (and our new 6 week old baby) to sleep.

Am I missing this sound somewhere in the new version? If not, any chance that it might come back in an upcoming version.

It is a perfect replica of midwest rain storm.

Thanks!

We replaced the original rain with heavy rain in the new version. It is slightly different but the original rain had a slight issue in the looping which is why it was redone. I will look into what it would take to fix the original and offer it up as a new sound. Heavier Rain? :) Cheers, Todd

Upgrades have to be done with AppStore over Wifi or with iTunes since the package is over 10 megabytes. If that still doesn't work for you I would contact Apple.

I have been meaning to come on and thank you for "extreme rain" which I think it the rain sound brought back from 1.0. I really love it.

But I HAD to come on and thank you for the SUPER speedy response and fix to Apple breaking your app in the latest version.

Thank you!

Thanks jellybrown! I'm glad you like the extreme rain, I missed it too. :)

We tried to get out the update as fast as we could. Thanks for your patience.

Cheers,
